World Series of Poker - WSOP
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is the largest group of poker tournament held in the world. Held annually in the luxurious backdrop of Las Vegas, it consisted of 55 events. Other than the Main Event, the other events often culminated within just over a month. The WSOP has been sponsored by Harrah's Entertainment since 2005.The winner of each of the events wins a World Series of Poker bracelet and a prize win determined by the number of challengers. Most of the popular poker types are usually featured but there has been a surge in the types of Texas Hold'em being featured at the WSOP of late.
The WSOP usually ends with the $10,000 No-limit Hold'em as its Main event. This event has enticed many illustrious names and the entrants for this event usually go into the thousands, enabling them to vie for a multi-million dollar prize win.
At the age of 22, Peter Eastgate broke the Phil Hellmuth's record and became the youngest Main Event winner at the 2008 WSOP, taking home a significant $9,152,416.
The WSOP also has a XBOX video game based on it.
